For turning a handsome GS (above) into whatever the heck this is (below).
Of course, styling is objective, and some will like it, but I feel that the enlarged spindle has completely ruined the front end of this car, combined with the stand-alone LED DRL swooshes.

Maybe this is just me. But I feel like luxury car makers have only three schools of design they do.
1: Make the car as boring looking/nice looking as possible and ruin it with a stupid grille.
2: Take a car from it’s parent company that’s lower on the food chain and add a stupid grille.
3: Get it just right in design.
And sadly schools 1 and 2 are becoming more common than school three.

My only issue with it what ever they’ve done with the weird cut the LED’s below the headlights have. Other than that I like it.

yes - but now it can eat small children

A GS350 was a bit of a pipe dream of mine. This new GS... I think not quite so.

In terms of school 2 though, Audi’s actually doing a great job of styling their cars so that you can’t tell at all that a VW platform would be underneath.
BMW and Merc are occasionally dipping their feet into school 1.

Same. If it was a one-piece headlight/DRL combo, I’m sure it would look much better.

The spindle is the same size, they just removed the painted center. I quite like it. It’s better than Cadillac’s LED gangsta tears.

I still don’t like that weird split headlight thing, and probably never will, but props to Lexus for having the guts to make some crazy looking stuff.

Some of us used to joke that the lexus hourglass grill looked like the predator maw. Looks like Lexus thought it was a good suggestion, and went further.
My real question is what the heck is this intersection? Just Yuck.

That’s the best description of Cadillac LEDs I’ve ever heard.

If it wasn’t for that area where all the angles met, I’m sure that the bumper would appear much cleaner than it is right now.

I like this one, but it says I must kill all the humans except Starbuck, who seems, like, pretty cool

So..the automotive equivalent of Mike Tyson, circa 1997?

Thank you, but I think it’s very accurate. At first I actually liked the new CTS, then I saw it in person with those awful lights, now I don’t.

The GS just got a nose job like Farrah Abraham’s.

hmmm - maybe a “tattoo” around the right headlight?
![]() 08/13/2015 at 23:45 |

This one says “Buy me now, I must devestate your wallet fortnightly”. I don’t know why he has to add “fortnightly.” But he’s always trying to riff on Mike Myers as an old Scotsman in So I Married an Axe Murderer.

“Must feeeeeed....”

It looks like a GS that’s now staring down its enemies and figuring eating them will do the trick.

oh look they made it worse
![]() 08/14/2015 at 00:34 |

I don’t get it?
I get the vertical light/tear connection, but what’s “gangsta” about a Cadillac??

I like the headlights but I think the grille is just a bit over the top.

I like.

I never thought that they could make the GS look even worse than it used to. But they somehow managed to, congrats Lexus on your new head designer Hellen Keller.

Have you never seen teardrop tattoos? That is what I’m referring to with the teardrop tattoo LEDs.

oh ok.
Good one, I guess?

Also, the Escalade was the rap game vehicle of choice for a long time.

Ok, now I see where you’re trying to go with this.
Jokes relevant to this decade might be a little funnier next time.

If you spent some time in Florida, you would see this is still relevant.

Eew. It was perfectly fine before!
Just like the GX. And the LX.
Oh how I now dislike Lexus.

They need to realize that some of their customers are not young, like the IS. I feel younger people are willing to accept the styling for attention, but for the GS, it’s tailored to older people with more money, and I guarantee that this styling will turn them away.
![]() 08/14/2015 at 13:21 |

The IS F Sport looks quite nice. But I dislike Lexus interiors.
![]() 08/14/2015 at 13:46 |
|
The IS interior looks good, but in reality it’s really not suited for practicality. There’s a huge lack of storage compartments, and the controls are awkwardly placed.
![]() 08/14/2015 at 13:56 |
|
I’d rather have the one on top, thank you very much.
Lexus IS has a design that is overly complicated and busy.
![]() 08/14/2015 at 14:02 |

For some reason the F30’s interior never really appealed to me. I much prefer the new A4’s interior or the C-Class’s.
![]() 08/14/2015 at 14:05 |
|
A4’s interior looks very promising.
C-Class feels cheap and claustrophobic (especially when the center console is in cheap black plastic). And that screen! The OS IS SO LAGGY!
![]() 08/14/2015 at 14:51 |
|
The GS is tailored to young-ish people with money who want room for their kids but still something that is fun to drive, while being more reliable than a 5-series or an E-Class.
The “wealthy old people” car that you’re looking for is the ES, and it’s literally the only reason it even exists.
![]() 08/14/2015 at 16:24 |
|
I imagine a GS owner is in their 30-40s. Wealthy old people don’t go for the ES that often anymore, it’s more for old people who just want a comfy car. Wealthy old people shopping in the Lexus line go for the LS nowadays.

Realer words have never been spoken, this is exactly what I say to myself when I see the older gen then see the new gen. Makes no sense, the original had a nicely cohesive fascia.
